We are currently looking for 15 teachers from a variety of classroom situations to pilot the curriculum in their classrooms.

Eligible field test teachers will meet the following criteria:

  • Currently teaching astronomy at the high school level in either a semester- or year-long astronomy course or as a unit within a core science course.
  • Strong familiarity with their state frameworks and selection criteria for new curricula within their school, district, or state.
  • Enthusiasm for inquiry-based and data-driven astronomy investigations for students.

The pilot process will require teachers to:

  • Use at least 4 weeks of IA materials in a high school science class.
  • Provide feedback on materials via surveys, interviews, focus groups, and/or class observations.

Teachers will be compensated in the range of $200-600, depending on the amount of material piloted.

The application process for the IA Pilot has closed as of June 30, 2005. We expect to announce the result of our selection by July 31, 2005.

We are now seeking teachers for field-testing in the fall of 2006. If you are interested, please complete the field-testing form. Please be aware that we will not be making a decision about field-testers until early summer of 2006.

To apply, please complete the IA Field Test Teacher Application Form.
